Fixed-price websites: what DKK 3,995, 6,995 and 14,995 buy you
Start, Etablér and Byg: what each package contains, what a fixed price means in writing, subscription versus one-time over three years, and six red flags in quotes.
This article was translated from Danish. Read the original.
Most Danish web agencies quote per project, after a meeting. That makes offers nearly impossible to compare, and it means the price you are told at the start rarely resembles the price you end up paying. We do it the other way round: our prices are published, and they are fixed. A five-page website costs DKK 3,995 one-time (Start), a larger site with full SEO setup DKK 6,995 (Etablér), and webshops, apps and larger systems get one fixed quote from DKK 14,995 (Byg). Prefer a subscription? Then it is DKK 375, 975 or 8,950 a month (≈ €50, €130 and €1,200). All prices exclude VAT.
This is not a guide to what websites cost in general. We have written that one already, with the market levels, in what a website costs in 2026. This article is about what a fixed price actually means, what is inside each of our packages, and how to read a quote from anyone, including us, so you know what you are buying before you sign.
What “fixed price” actually means
The phrase is used loosely. Some agencies mean an estimate they will try to hit. Others mean a starting price followed by a long list of add-ons. When we say fixed price, we mean three concrete things.
The scope is written down before we start. Which pages, which functions, which integrations, who delivers text and images, and what “done” looks like. That document is the deal. If something is not in the scope, it is not in the price, and that will not surprise you, because you read it before saying yes.
Changes are priced before they are built. Projects change; that is normal. What we do not do is build the change first and bill for it afterwards. Want something added halfway through? You get a price for it in writing, and you decide. Say no, and the original price stands.
There is no hourly billing without a ceiling. Hourly rates punish you for asking questions and reward the supplier for being slow. A fixed price does the opposite: it forces us to understand the project properly before we commit, which is work many agencies push onto the invoice instead.
The practical consequence is that a fixed price requires a real conversation first. We ask more questions up front than an agency that bills by the hour, because we carry the risk of getting it wrong. That is the trade: a little more of your time before the project, none of your money after it.
The three one-time packages
Here is the full one-time price list, straight from our pricing page:
| Package | One-time price | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Start | DKK 3,995 | Five-page fast website, full ownership of code and content, EU hosting set up, responsive and accessible |
| Etablér | DKK 6,995 | More pages, full SEO setup, blog / content engine, three months of support included |
| Byg | from DKK 14,995 | Custom web apps and SaaS, webshops and booking systems, mobile apps for iOS and Android. Price fixed before we start |
Start: DKK 3,995
Start is for a business that needs to look professional online and does not need much more than that yet. Five pages, typically front page, about, services, references and contact, built as a fast, responsive site with your own design rather than a template. You own the code and the content from day one, we set up hosting in the EU, and the site is built to be accessible.
What is not in Start: copywriting, ongoing SEO, and functionality beyond a contact form. Those are honest exclusions, not hidden ones. If you want us to write your text, that is priced separately, before we start.
Etablér: DKK 6,995
Etablér is for a business that wants to be found. More pages, so you can have one per service or per area. Full SEO setup: technical foundations, metadata, structured data, sitemap, speed. And a blog or content engine, so you can keep publishing after launch. Three months of support are included, which covers the questions and small adjustments that always come up once real customers start using the site.
Most Danish small businesses who come to us with “we need a proper website” end up here, because it is the smallest package where the site can actually compete for search terms rather than just exist.
Byg: from DKK 14,995, fixed quote
Byg is where a website becomes software: a webshop, a booking system, a web app, a SaaS product, a mobile app. “From 14,995” is a starting point, not a price. The price is a written, fixed quote after a free conversation about what the system needs to do. If you want to calibrate before that conversation, we have separate guides on what a webshop, a booking system and an app typically cost.
The rule from the section above applies with full force here: the scope document is longer, the price is fixed once it is signed, and anything outside it gets its own price before it is built.
Subscription or one-time: the three-year sum
The alternative to buying a site is subscribing to one. Basis at DKK 375 a month gives you a five-page site with custom design, EU hosting, maintenance, SSL, backup and content changes as needed. Vækst at DKK 975 adds ongoing technical and content SEO, a blog, performance tuning and support. Studio at DKK 8,950 is a full tech team on subscription.
A monthly price and a one-time price are hard to compare, so here is the same thing over three years:
| Model | Three-year total | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| Start one-time + your own hosting (around DKK 150 a month) | approx. DKK 9,150 | The site. You handle updates, backup and changes yourself |
| Basis subscription, DKK 375 a month | DKK 13,500 | The site plus hosting, maintenance, SSL, backup and content changes |
| Etablér one-time + your own hosting | approx. DKK 12,900 | A larger site with SEO setup and a blog. You run it afterwards |
| Vækst subscription, DKK 975 a month | DKK 35,100 | Everything in Basis plus ongoing SEO, content and performance work |
Read honestly, the one-time model wins if you have someone in-house who will actually keep the site updated, or if the site genuinely will not change for years. The subscription costs a few thousand kroner more over three years and buys something specific: the site is never your problem. Updates, security, hosting, small changes: one predictable line in the budget.
Vækst is not comparable to Etablér at all, and we would rather say that than pretend. Etablér gives you the SEO foundations; Vækst is someone working on your rankings every month. Whether that is worth DKK 975 a month depends entirely on what a new customer is worth to you.
Two things hold on both models. There is no lock-in: subscriptions run month to month. And you own the site either way. Leave a subscription and you leave with the code, the content and the domain, as we describe in do you actually own your website.
The line items outside any package
A fixed price covers the build. It does not make the rest of owning a website disappear. Budget for:
- Domain. DKK 50–150 a year for a .dk domain, registered in your own name, never the agency’s.
- Hosting. Included in every subscription. On a one-time build we set it up for you in the EU and you pay the host directly, typically DKK 50–500 a month depending on what has to run.
- Content. Writing good sales copy for ten pages takes 15–25 hours. If we write it, it is in the quote. If you write it, it is the single most common reason a project stalls.
- Ongoing SEO. The on-page basics are in Etablér and up. Getting and keeping rankings is monthly work, which is what Vækst is for. See also our SEO service.
- GDPR. A privacy policy that matches what the site actually does, forms that do not leak data to US ad networks, and a cookie setup that is either compliant or unnecessary. nbsweb.dk itself runs self-hosted, cookieless statistics and has no cookie banner, and we build client sites the same way whenever the requirements allow it. The rules are in cookie banner rules.
Six red flags in a quote
After reading a lot of quotes that prospective clients bring us, the same patterns keep appearing:
- No itemisation. “Website: DKK 45,000” tells you nothing. Ask what design, content, functionality and post-launch support each cost.
- Hosting locked to the agency at inflated rates. DKK 600 a month for basic shared hosting is margin, not service. Ask where the site is hosted and whether you can take it with you.
- “GDPR compliant” with nothing behind it. Ask specifically: where is the data hosted, which third-party scripts load, and if there is a banner, is consent actually logged?
- No mention of ownership. You should own your domain, your content and your code. Get it in writing. Many “fixed prices” are cheap precisely because the site lives on a platform you can never leave.
- A price too low to be real. A DKK 1,500 “custom website” is a template with your logo pasted in, usually on infrastructure you will regret.
- A fixed price with no scope document. This is the one people miss. A fixed price without a written scope is just a number. The scope is what makes it fixed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upgrade from Start to Etablér later? Yes. Start and Etablér are built the same way, so the extra pages and the SEO work are added on top of what you have, not rebuilt from scratch. You get a fixed price for the addition first, like any other change.
What if I need something that is not in any package? That is what Byg is for. Tell us what it needs to do, and we send a fixed quote. If it turns out to be a small addition to Start or Etablér instead, we say so.
Does a fixed price mean no changes during the project? No. It means changes are priced before they are built, so you decide with the number in front of you rather than on the invoice afterwards.
How long does it take? Most Start and Etablér projects are live within one to two weeks of the first conversation. Byg depends on the scope, and the timeline is part of the written quote.
Why us
Cheaper than most, and not worse for it
We are three developers. No project managers, no salespeople, no open-plan office downtown. That overhead is what you would otherwise be paying on top of the work itself, and it is why we can keep the price down on websites, webshops, web apps and mobile apps alike. Every price is published and fixed in writing before we start — from DKK 375 a month or DKK 3,995 one-time. See prices.
Cheaper does not mean less. We build and run our own products: NBS Booking, NBS Food and the KalorieTracker app, which is live in the App Store and Google Play. So we have already paid for the mistakes we advise you about. You talk to the person writing the code, and you own the code afterwards. If you want to move on without us, you can.
